Matthew Farrugia has been awarded 3rd Place in the Wreck – Underwater Photography category with the entry “Tug 2.”  Furthermore he was nominated in 2 other categories: “The UW Wide Angle Category” and “The Dive Destination Category.” The Eilat Red Sea is known worldwide as the International Underwater Photography Olympics and has awarded photographers with prizes worth more than half a million US dollars over the past years. For the third year in a row the World Shoot-Out invited both amateur and professional photographers to take part in one of the most innovative, creative, international and festive UW events ever produced! The event took place worldwide and during the month of August, hundreds of underwater photographers from across the globe participated in this international competition. The award winning ceremony was held in Eilat Israel Red Sea.

The “Tug 2” was scuttled in June 2013 off Exiles, Sliema to serve as a diving attraction. The vessel was sunk in a controlled operation onto the seabed 20 metres below the surface and some 250 metres away from the shoreline.
